Mark Sheehan

Kia Ora Everyone.

I want the best for all the students, teachers and families who attend and work at our school and I look forward to helping make this happen.

Being on the Board of Trustees allows me to serve my country and the wider Waerenga community as a whole. It gives me an opportunity to make a positive difference to our diverse schooling Whanau in ensuring a brighter future for our children, teachers and their families, as I only want to inspire our children and parents to do greater things.

I have been a career public servant since I left school and have worked for Police and Royal Military Police both here in New Zealand and in the United Kingdom. I am currently a Youth Engagement Officer with the Police, currently based in South Auckland.

I feel I can bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to this position.

I’m happily married to Kelli Sheehan who works part time as the school receptionist and have one son, Matthew who also attends Waerenga School. I enjoy working with all kinds of people, both young and old. I enjoy reading history and current affairs, love travelling and meeting new people and taking up new challenges. I am also an active member of the New Zealand Defence Force’s Army Reserve.

I can work hard with the school in maintaining and helping the school achieve great results. I am a good leader and always apply a number of qualities when enjoying life and working, these range from honesty, integrity, motivation, presence, performance, productivity, professionalism and pride. This is a unique opportunity to serve our community, I know that we can come together under a sense of common purpose and achieve great things for our children’s education.

I have a strong interest in and commitment to our partnership with Maori, I believe strengthening this partnership can only bring value to the students and school.

I believe increasing trust and confidence along with improving your satisfaction in making sure that our children are learning in a secure and safe environment while at school, improving the quality of educational services, making the school more efficient and effective.

I’m passionate about youth and education and being on the Board would give me a chance to get involved with school’s decision making and direction and more importantly, being part of your children’s life.
